AION 2 pet transformation: unlock, equip and use Candy
To make AION 2 pets transform your character, current Global community guidance describes an eligible pet at Insight 3, equipped before using an Empathy Candy. Unlocking a pet, riding it and becoming its form are separate steps. Check the Transform entry on your selected pet before spending Candy.
What you need before trying a transformation
English Global guides describe transformation at Pet Insight 3 and identify Special pets as exceptions; the AION2 Guide separates the three-level Global progression from five-level Korea and Taiwan progression. The Global Pet Transform walkthrough specifically identifies Black Dragon as ineligible and describes one Candy per five-minute use. These are community references, not an official confirmation of every pet's eligibility.
| Check | What to look for |
|---|---|
| Correct pet | The exact name and a Transform function on its panel |
| Required Insight | The unlock level shown for your current region and client |
| Active selection | The intended pet is equipped before item use |
| Activation item | An Empathy Candy, with its current tooltip and restrictions read |
| Available state | No current transformation or activity restriction preventing the action |
Plan the soul gap for the chosen pet
Select a pet for the appearance you actually want, then check its own soul item and current Insight progress. Souls named for another pet should not be counted in this plan. A direct Pet item and a Soul item are different rewards; a chest listing the pet does not by itself promise a specific number of souls.
For context, Wikily's current community table lists 25 souls from Insight 1 to 2 and 75 from 2 to 3. Do not add an unlock cost again if the pet is already owned. Those transitions would total 100 additional souls from Insight 1; 30 unspent matching souls would leave 70. This is arithmetic based on listed values, not a guarantee that every region or Special pet follows that table.
- Read the next upgrade cost in the game's pet panel.
- Read the later cost too if you are targeting more than one level.
- Count only matching souls that remain available to spend.
- Use the Pet Soul Planner with those costs.
- Open the pet's source list and confirm an obtainable reward before estimating runs.
The planner begins with an already owned pet. If you do not own the pet yet, first follow its acquisition requirements; an initial unlock is outside this tool's upgrade calculation.
A careful activation sequence
- Inspect the pet. Open the pet menu and confirm the selected pet's level and Transform entry.
- Equip the intended form. Do not rely on a highlighted database entry or preview; check the equipped state in the game.
- Read the Candy tooltip. Confirm that it targets the equipped pet, and review current restrictions and duration.
- Use one Candy. Check the new character form and active effect before using another item.
- Read the timer. Treat the form as temporary. If you chose the wrong pet, check the effect's available cancellation control before selecting a replacement.
The Global walkthrough describes the Candy as using the pet equipped at activation, with mounting and changing the pet restricted during the effect. Confirm those controls in your current client. The practical safeguard is to choose the form first, rather than trying several Candies while an unexpected form is active.
Mounting is the action for riding your companion; transformation is a temporary character form. If your aim is travel, check Mount or Mount Glide on the pet's panel. Reaching the transformation threshold is a separate goal.
Check Candy sources without wasting a purchase
Community item data lists Empathy Candy in the Festival token shop, and collection references list Candy among pet-count milestone rewards. The AION2 Hub Candy record explicitly labels its snapshot as Global Launch Scale Test data from September 19, 2026. That provides a route to investigate; it does not prove a shop is open on your server today.
- Collection route: inspect Collection Status for an earned but unclaimed reward. A pet's Insight level and the number of different pets owned are separate counters.
- Shop route: inspect the current Festival shop, item name, currency, quantity and restrictions before purchase. Confirm activity access and currency ownership first.
- Item already owned: search inventory and read the actual tooltip. A similarly colored item may have a different purpose.
This guide does not publish a festival timetable or claim an expired promotional reward is available. Follow the schedule and eligibility displayed by your current client. Candy supply and soul supply should be budgeted separately.
Troubleshoot the symptom before spending more
| Symptom | First check | Next action |
|---|---|---|
| Insight is high enough but no form appears | Eligibility, equipped pet and activation item | Check all three separately; level alone is not activation |
| The wrong form appeared | The pet equipped when the item was used | End the current effect through available controls, then select the intended pet |
| An old guide asks for Insight 5 | Guide region and date | Compare with the Global pet panel; do not import a Taiwan or Korea threshold |
| A Special pet has no Transform entry | That pet's own function list | Choose an eligible regular pet instead of assuming every mount can transform |
| Raising Insight gave no Candy | Inventory and collection milestone rewards | Find an actual Candy source; unlock progress is a separate requirement |
| Mount or pet switching is unavailable | Active form and current area | Check the effect and activity restrictions before treating it as a pet bug |
Transformation is not evidence of invisibility, immunity or a different combat class. This site does not recommend a form for a combat advantage without verified supporting mechanics. Compare available pets in the database, then use the farming guide for the selected soul source.
